The CEVNI test is required to be taken by those intending to go boating on the European Inland Waterways. It can be added to an existing ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or taken and applied for at the same time as an ICC. The test is usually taken online and this allows you access to practice papers before you have taken the final test.
Please note this is not a course and therefore you are advised to ensure you are familiar with the contents of the RYA Inland Waterway publication G17 before taking the final test.
The book can be bought as either a paperback or eBook here :
There is a useful shorter guide which you may wish to also purchase available here:
CEVNI stands for Code Européen des Voies de Navigation Intérieure. It covers signs & buoyage, sounds signals, lights and shapes in use on the European Inland Waterways.
If you require any further information on the CEVNI or the ICC please contact us.
PLEASE NOTE : Minimum age for an ICC and CEVNI is 16 yrs old. The course is not automatically activated and whilst we would usually hope to have the course set up within an hour or so of your email you should allow up to 24hrs. If you require urgent access please phone us to confirm availability before booking online. By buying online and requesting immediate access to the course you do waive your 14 day right to cancel. If you would rather wait the 14 days and then be set up we are happy to do that. Please note that we will of course always work with you to resolve any concerns you have. Our terms and conditions are available on the website.
